How do you get blog hits?
I'm not much of a self promoter, never really liked doing so. But as a near invisible side show to the blogosphere, the only way I've been able to attract visitors is to put links in comments on other sites. I don't like harassing people with email (oh please link me!), either. Lately my hit stats have looked like this:

which is pretty pathetic. About a month ago I linked to myself on The Sabre, the rest of the month most of my hits were searching for "sex fist". Sorry guys, not what you're looking for.
I also got hits for "Germane crowell" (UVa and Detroit Lion WR), "Hank Dudgeon" (an obscure offensive lineman at Virginia in the early 90s), "james brignoli" (an even more obscure UVa football commit), "Heaven Shall Burn Download", "rod jensen coaching", and "jason augustino" (a less obscure UVa commit).
Many sites I've read have HUGE blogrolls, I guess hoping for a reciprocal link. I can only say that integrity requires me to only link sites I read, and to only heartily endorse products and/or events I use and/or attend. The Bloglines list to the right are exactly what I subscribe to. (Plus Colby Cosh, who desperately needs RSS.)
Admittedly, I don't post that often (hey, it's the offseason!). And my interests are esoteric. But really, what do you do? I'm not going to post just for the sake of posting, but I do have some worthwhile things to say. Anybody listening?
