  • LB John Duckett Great Mills HS, MD 6-2 215 -- A solid linebacker who spent a year on offense and a year off for academics.  Became a starter. ++
  • QB Dan Ellis Downingtown HS, PA 6-3 215 -- Backed up Aaron Brooks as a true freshman and at one point was a fan favorite to take his job away.  Sanity prevailed, and Dan eventually succeeded Aaron as a junior.  Highlight was leading the team on a last minute drive against Maryland in 1999.  Injuries cost him half his senior year.  Had an up and down career.  No redshirt. ++
  • RB Tyree Foreman Sherwood HS, MD 6-1 205 -- Fumbles early in his career put him in the doghouse.  Moved to fullback as a junior and excelled as a receiver. ++
  • WR Ahmad Hawkins Hampton HS, VA 11 5-10 180 -- No redshirt.  Started at wideout as a junior, moved to cornerback where he started as a senior.  Mediocre hands, but depth problems at wideout forced him there early.  Caught winning TD pass against Virginia Tech in 1998. ++
  • LB Yubrenal Isabelle Bluefield HS, WVA WVA Def POY 6-2 222 -- Multi year starter at middle linebacker. ++++
  • OL Jermese Jones Hillside HS, NC 6-7 305 -- Multi year starter at tackle. +++

  • DB Devon Simmons Highland Springs HS, VA 13 6-0 190 -- Took a year off (academics?) but started at safety in 1999. ++
  • DL Lub Stamenich Langley HS, VA 9 6-4 255 -- Started as a freshman, an overachiever thrust into his role too early.  Could have used a redshirt, but played a solid four years anyway.   Died in his mid 20s of leukemia.  +++
  • RB Antoine Womack Phoebus HS, VA 1 6-0 219 -- The gem of the class, an incredible combination of strength and speed.  Backed up Thomas Jones for two years, took a year off for academics and legal problems, came back as a junior.  His time off had hurt his play some, and there wasn't a lot of talent around him.  In the first game of his senior year he broke his foot.  Gutted it out and came back midseason anyway, but was not the same until the last game of the year when he led the team to an upset of Penn State. +++
